This is a video of an autistic woman, she is considered to be very low functioning autistic... but she is extremely intelligent (as I think the vast majority of those on the spectrum are in some way/shape/ or form)...

I was just going to email this to the couple of people on my list I thought might be intrigued by it, but instead I am sharing it with everyone. I think the world needs to see it and pay attention.. take a minute to watch it..

There's something seriously wrong with my Kitty...

November 7th, 2006 (03:52 pm)
crappy

Mood Phase: crappy

She's gone from overly playful spunky chubby kitty to anorexic kitty who won't eat and barely drinks water. This all began last week....

She was sick, throwing up.. figured she ate something bad.. but she wouldn't purr or anything she just wanted to sit on Michael or I.. 2 days later she'd purr so I thought she was beginning to feel better.. She still won't eat though. She's so skinny now it's pathetic. She's drinking little bits of water.. She ate about 2 bites of chicken yesterday. She seems interested in food, sniffs at it and such like she's going to eat it, but won't. She's not really throwing up anymore... I do know that she's dehydrated, if you pull her skin (of which she has tons of now due to the loss of weight!) it just stays. We've tried everythign we can think of to encourage her to eat and drink to no avail. She'll follow us around and she'll run out the door, and she'll "talk" but she no longer plays, at all. I keep thinking I am going to come home and find her dead on my pillow =(

I know the solution - take her to the vet! Yep, well, see since we bought the house and did the remodel, there is *NO* $$ to be able to spend to take her to the vet (the remodel maxed the cc's etc).. I just don't know what to do - I feel really bad about it, I feel so bad that she's sick and I know there's not much I can do.. I just keep hoping she'll get better.. btw she's an indoor only cat, she has only been outside like twice and only *very* briefly - i.e. long enough for us to chase her and get her back in the house. She's been in our house since her birth. I know she has ear mites (she got them from Sabbath, her mom).. but that shouldn't cause her to be THIS sick.. and we've treated her for ear mites.

Ideas anyone?

From Scott.

The clouds are breaking up and they are able to see blue sky - the hurricane is over for them, and they seem to be ok - just waiting for the power to return. *sigh of relief*

Mood Phase: worried

I got an email from him which gmail reports as 12:18 am

"Well, I just woke up to the power going out. It's quite windy out, and I see small flashes of lightning. No worries, though.

I'm gonna see if I can get back to sleep... More info when I get up in the morning."

I got a text from him a few minutes ago asking if I got the email. So he is OK - no power but he's alright. He'll keep me updated, and I will keep everyone else updated.

Got another text from him this morning, he sent another email to me this morning but it did not reach me - his text messages are reaching me fine though.

He says the worst appears to be over, but the power is out.

EDIT the second email he sent just came through

"Hey everyone,

Well, things could have been a lot worse than they are. We lost power at 2 AM last night, but the water is still working. Mainly we've gotten highish winds and some rain. No damage to speak of.

Anyway, we're doing okay here. I'm hoping power will be restored within a couple of days (which means I should be good for Fight Night, those of you with MK Online). If anything significant changes, I'll let you all know.

(P.S.: I feel sorry for my coworker Mike; he went to Nacogdoches to escape the storm, and now it's going to serve that town a direct hit.)"

I'll keep these a public post in case anyone on his list is looking for info.

A professor stood before his Philosophy 101 class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous - - yes.

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and proceeded to pour the entire contents in! to the jar effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to
recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the
important things - - your family, your partner, your health, your
children, your friends, your favorite passions - - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job,
your house, your car. The sand is everything else - - the small stuff."
"If you put the sand into the jar first", he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. Play another 18. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal." "Take care of the golf balls first - - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers.
